Project Development

Blackvolt Energy manages the entire development process for battery storage projects – from site selection and permitting to final implementation. Ian Nutt

Chairman & Senior Technical Oversight

With 45 years of experience in the energy and power industry, including conventional, nuclear, and renewable energy, he serves as Chairman of BlackVolt, overseeing technical and development aspects, having held senior management roles as Director, EVP, and CEO, as well as being an active board member in publicly listed and private companies across the US, UK, and Europe, where he led the development, construction, and commissioning of the Meerwind offshore wind project in the North Sea.

With over 15 years of experience as a technology expert and managing technology companies, including positions at IMS Nanofabrications, DAS Energy and CCE Clean Capital Energy. Graduate of the Vienna University of Technology, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences and Danube University Krems.

Bernhard Steiner

CFO and Co-Founder

With over 15 years of experience in financing in Europe and the USA, including positions at RBI International and CCE Clean Capital Energy. Law graduate from the University of Vienna.

Michael Gerstmayr

Head of Strategy

With over 15 years of experience as an energy expert, including many years of experience for the International Atomic Energy Agency of the United Nations. Technical Physics graduate from the Vienna University of Technology.

Fabian Wasef

Junior Project Developer

With extensive experience in mechatronic system development, particularly in electrotechnical systems, robotics engineering, DevOps, and system scaling through load and performance testing, he also has years of expertise in project management and marketing. A certified Project Manager (Level D) and Data Protection Officer, he graduated from FH Technikum Wien in Mechatronics & Robotics Engineering and is currently pursuing an MSc in Innovation & Technology Management.

Martin Ployer

Director of Regulatory Compliance

He is a licensed electrical engineer with extensive expertise in high-voltage systems, industrial installations, and electrical infrastructure. With years of experience in project management and technical leadership, he ensures efficient, safe, and high-quality electrical solutions.

Gregory G. Green

Managing Partner

20 years of experience in investment banking, capital markets and principal investing at Bear Stearns, RBC Capital Markets, Jefferies and MAS Energy. Co-founder of MAS RNG Supra. University of Wollongong graduate and Chartered Financial Analyst.

Constantin A. Vana

Managing Partner

Over 13 years working in investment banking, M&A and capital markets at UBS, Jefferies, Cantor Fitzgerald and UniCredit Group. Studied at the Cranfield School of Management and at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

Joseph Amoroso

Associate Director

With 7 years of experience in corporate & investment banking, M&A, capital markets, and infrastructure development at RBC Capital Markets and, most recently, Cavnue, he has gained extensive expertise across energy, utilities, and infrastructure sectors. Since 2025, he has been supporting Clarence Capital in infrastructure investments and developments across the US and Europe.

Alan Howard

General Counsel

With over 25 years of experience in M&A, project finance, corporate finance, and securities law, he is responsible for legal oversight across Clarence Capital’s portfolio companies. He graduated with high honors from the University of Georgia School of Law.
